Trailer Hitch Installation - 2017 BMW X1

Today on our 2017 BMW X1 we'll be having a look at and installing the Draw-Tite Class 3 Max-Frame trailer hitch receiver, part number 76018. Here's what our hitch looks like installed. As you may notice, the only part of the hitch you see underneath the vehicle is our Class 3 2" receiver itself. The main frame of our hitch is concealed behind our fascia, giving us a nice clean and factory-like appearance. We have this welded-on collar here. This will also give it a little bit more strength to help secure our hitch-mounted accessories. On the side of our receiver we have two pin holes. more

It's part number is C13107. Here's what our hitch is going to look like installed. As you can see we're still going to keep that really nice rear appearance of the X3, just going to have the receiver tube opening and safety chain connection points are all we're really going to see. You'll see that the hitch is about flush with that lower edge of the bumper. We've got that nice reinforcement collar around the end, kind of gives it a clean look. more

Fits up nice and snug right underneath the rear bumper so the only thing we're adding is really going to be the receiver tube opening. The cross tube, it's going to be completely hidden underneath this rear appearance panel and behind the bumper. more

Trailer Hitch Installation - 2015 BMW X1 - Curt

Today on our 2015 BMW X1, we're going to be taking a look at and installing the Curt class 3 trailer hitch receiver. Part number C13140. Here's what this hitch is going to look like once it's installed on the vehicle. What I like most about this hitch is that it gives us a clean look on the vehicle but it's also very accessible and easy to use. The face of our receiver tube is almost flush with the rear bumper which is going to help make sure that we've got plenty of clearance for just about any type of accessories that we may want to use with this hitch. It features the 2"x2" receiver tube opening, has a nice welded on reinforcement collar all the way around, features the loop style safety chain connection points that are welded onto the bottom of the receiver. It features a 250 pound max ton weight rating, which is the total weight of anything that you have in your hitch and that's going to be the downward force here on the inside of the receiver. more

Trailer Hitch Installation - 2015 BMW X1 - Draw-Tite

Today in our 2015 BMW X1 we're going to be taking a look at, and installing the Draw-Tite Class III Max-Frame trailer hitch receiver, part number 75761. Here's what this hitch is going to look like once it's installed on the vehicle. What I like most about this hitch is the bumper clearance that it gives you, so it should be nice and easy to use with just about any accessory, and it's going to maintain a clean look on the vehicle. This hitch features the two inch by two inch receiver tube opening nicely welded on the reinforcement collar around it. It's got the rolled steel safety chain connection points. Has a standard 5/8" hitch pin hole for securing all the Class III accessories. It's also got this half inch hole which is going to be good for use with the j-pin stabilization system which helps to eliminate some of the shake and play inside the receiver with the shank. The edge of this receiver tube opening is just a hair past the edge of the bumper, but it's not far enough past that it should really cause any issues like hitting your leg on it on a regular basis or any problems like that. It features a 400 pound max tongue weight rating which is the downward force on the inside edge of this receiver tube opening. It features a 3500 pound gross trailer weight rating, which is the weight of the trailer and anything which you may have on it. It is ready for use with the weight distribution system, and when used with weight distribution the tongue weight is going to stay the same, but the gross trailer weight rating is going to go up to 4000 pounds. more

The Curt is has three holes to drill in the frame rail on the driver's side and two on the passenger's side.
